Daniel Ulrichs Avatar Animated Hi!

Hi! I'm Daniel. I code and sell things online.

I've been into webdev since 2000 and used to be part of the freelance time for money game for more than 20 years. Mid 2023 I decided to leave the hamster wheel and started focussing on my side projects. Right now I craft and run websites, e-commerce stores, and desktop apps.

Besides shipping labels and all things coding, I enjoy baking bread, brewing (and drinking) nice beer, cooking (and eating) great food, hiking, and camping. You likely find me sitting in front of our tent, sipping a coffee or beer, or on a hiking trail when I'm away from my Macbook.

e-commerce projects

keine-werbung.net

Launched on a rainy and boring Sunday afternoon keine-werbung.net, has been my very first ecommerce project. I designed and printed "No junk mail"-sticker and magnetic signs for temporary use on letterboxes and started selling them on eBay and amazon. I didn't know back then, but this had been the very start of Gobrecht & Ulrich - a e-commerce venture with my buddy Jan. As of today the website is a mini shop based on Astro and shopify.

stiftschlaufe.de

stiftschlaufe.de is yet another mini shop based on Astro and shopify. Quality pen loops and other useful things for calendars, journals and notebooks.

Gobrecht & Ulrich®

Started in 2015 as a small experiment Gobrecht & Ulrich is now my day job. It's a multi-channel e-commerce project selling stationery, stickers, and bookbinding supplies to customers in Germany and the UK.

website projects

aktuelle-kalenderwoche.com

When I worked in a regular 9 to 5 office job in Germany week numbers ("Kalenderwoche" in German) were around everywhere and every day. Tired of looking up week numbers on shitty websites I ended up building my own - aktuelle-kalenderwoche.com - in 2011. The website is still around and hasn't changed much since then. Though it's time for a relaunch soon.

desktop app projects

TimeChunks - time tracking for freelancers

My first desktop app project for ages. The last one used to be a simulation game where the player had to run a newspaper company - built in QBasic on my 486 machine in the 90s. 23 years later I built TimeChunks with Svelte, Tauri, and IndexedDB. It was the time tracking tool I always wanted to use and has been available for macOS and Windows.
